Study From the Book of Isaiah,26
Today is the twenty-sixth part of this series where we study chapter 30, where there are a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
In the previous chapter, Isaiah denounces those who seek human support, instead of depending on the Lord. In this chapter, Isaiah addresses the specific folly of depending on Egypt. This woe oracle consists of a condemnation of dependence on Egypt and a promise that the Lord will save Israel and destroy Assyria.
Structure:
Verses 1-7: futile confidence of Egypt.
Verses 8-17: a rebellious people
Verses 18-26: God will be gracious
Verses 27-33: judgment of Assyria
Principle 48, verse 30:17“-In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.”
Lesson 48: God asks us to work for His kingdom, but He never instructs us to strive for anything apart from empowering of His Spirit. Dependence upon Him leads to a quiet, confident spirit.
Principle 49, verse 30:21 “-Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying ‘this is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the righthand or whenever you turn to the left.”
Lesson 49: The Lord promises to lead and to guide His people. He does not play ‘hide and seek,’ trying to make it difficult for us to find Him and His will. If we really want to do His will, He promises to make it clear to us. 10/10/2021.
