Study From the Book of Isaiah,25
Today is the twenty-fifth part of this series where we study chapter 29, where there are a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
The second woe is against Jerusalem for its hypocritical religion- specially its empty worship and its blind prophets.
The third woe oracle, directed against Israel’s unbelieving counsellors, consists of an accusation that the counsellors had turned the religious world upside down by seeking manipulating God rather than submitting to Him with promise that God would turn the counsellor’s social world upside down by deflating the pretentious and elevating the lowly.
This chapter ends by good news of future recovery at the time of the millennium when Israel sees the Holy One of Jacob and fear the God of Israel (verse 23).
Structure:
Verses 1-8: woe to Jerusalem
Verses 9-16: the blindness of Disobedience
Verses 17-24: future recovery of wisdom.
Principle 46, verse 29:13 “-these people draw near with their mouth and honour Me with their lips, but have removed their hearts from Me.”
Lesson 46: God not only isn’t impressed with passionless prayers and dead devotion, but also He detests them. He has no interest in outward compliance devoid of inward desire to please Him. He wants us, not our words, or deeds.
Principle 47, verse 29:14 “-These also who erred in spirit will come to understanding, and those who complained will learn doctrine.”
Lesson 47: God disciplines us only to bring us to a better state than we had before. He uses adversity to teach us, because we tend to learn more in our valley experiences than on our mountaintops. 3/10/2021
