Today is the twentieth part of this series where we study chapter 24. For chapter 23 that talks about proclamation against Tyre, there are  no biblical principles and lessons we can learn from. For chapter twenty-four, there are a couple  of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling. 

Chapter 24 ,that talks about the impeding judgement on the Earth, consists of five ideas. Fist the desolation of earth because of sin. Second the end of rivalry in the city. Third glory to God but grieve over earth. Fourth, the hopelessness of flight for the whole earth shakes. Fifth, the vison of God reigning on Mount Zion over cosmos.

Structure:

Verses 1-23: impeding judgement on the earth  

Principle 36 verse 24: 5,6 “ – the earth is also defiled under the inhabitants, because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance , broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore, the curse has devoured the earth and those who dwell in it desolate.”

Lesson 36:  Sin not only destroy us spiritually; it also plays havoc with the earth.  Paul says ‘the whole creation groans and labour with birth pangs’ Rom 8:22. And looks forward to its day of redemption.

Principle 37:verse 24:20: “—the earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall totter like a hut, its transgression shall be heavy upon it.”

Lesson 27: the prophet speaks often about “the Day of the Lord.” The 7 years of tribulation and great tribulation after the rapture of the Church, describing it as a time of horrific destruction, planet-wide judgement and fierce divine wrath.  Jesus said “unless those days were shortened , no flesh would be saved.” (Math 24:22). 29/8/2021
