Study From the Book of Isaiah,15
Today is the fifteenth part of this series where we study chapter fourteen. And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
At the beginning of this chapter, Isaiah continues to talk about the mercy on Jacob, the remnant of Jewish people who will return after the 7 years of tribulation and great tribulation to settle in Israel after repentance while the Lord Jesus reigns for 1000 years.
However, Isaiah takes us back to the fall of Satan(Lucifer) because of the sin of pride and his fall to earth to made it void before the creation as Genesis chapter one declares. Isaiah then talks about the destruction of Babylon, Assyria and Philistia.
Structure:
Verses 1-2: mercy on Jacob
Verses 3-11: fall of the king of Babylon
Verses 12-21: the fall of Lucifer
Verses 22-23: Babylon destroyed
Verses 24-27: Assyria destroyed
Verses 28-32: Philistia destroyed.
Principle 27, verse 14:13 “—For you have said in your heart : ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt throne above the stars of God--’”
Lesson 27 : Isaiah uses the arrogant king of Babylon to picture the insolent pride of Satan . The devil fell from his lofty position because he wanted to usurp God’s place. He even tried to get the Lord Jesus to worship him (Matt. 4:9).
Principle 28: verse 14:24 :“—the Lord of hosts has sworn , saying, ‘Surely, as I have thought , so it shall come to pass, and as I have purposed, so it shall stand.’”
Lesson 28: disobedience never makes sense, because God will always-always-follow through on both His promises and His warnings. If He tell us, “You reap what you sow,” then we’d be fools not to believe Him.25/7/2021
