Today is the fourteenth  part of this series where we study chapter thirteen. And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

The book of Isaiah takes a major turn in this chapter The focus in this chapter is on the Lord Judgement over Babylon.

We learn from the book of Revelation about the Day of the Lord, which starts with night. After that night of judgement of the nations to include Babylon(A symbol of God's enemies), The Lord Jesus will reign for 1000 years when it will be a happy blessed time. That will happen after the rapture of the Church. In that time the Church will be with the Father in heaven “The kingdom of God.”

The Apostle John   uses the term Babylon symbolically in the New Testament to refer to any enemy of God’s kingdom (Revelation 14:8, 18:2 , 10:21).

Structure:

Verse 1-22: Prophecy against Babylon.

Principle 25, verse 13:11 “—I will punish the world for its evil , and the wicked for their inequity.”

Lesson 25 :  Hollywood may glamorize it, pundits may mock it, leaders may ignore  it and most may misunderstood it, but the Judgement Day really is coming. Now is the time to repent and get right with God.

Principle 26:  verse 13:17  :“—Behold , I will stir the Medes against them”   Lesson 26: This prophecy has two dimensions. One  that passed when Isaiah made this prophecy were 150 years away from conquering Judah. Yet it was the Medes and Persians who eventually toppled Babylon. The other dimension will happen at the night of the Day of the Lord (7 years of tribulation and great tribulation) when God uses nations  as instruments in His hand to judge  of the wicked ones.     18/7/2021
