Study From the Book of Isaiah,10
Today is the tenth part of this series where we study chapter nine. And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
Verse 1 in this chapter is the continuation of thought of verse 22 of the previous chapter that promised a dramatic change to come. That change would be the explosion of light found in the Good News: Jesus can free us from the darkness that comes from our sin and bring an end to war and usher in universal peace. The light will replace the darkness, God incarnate that depicts His divine-human nature as well as His universal program pf salvation.
Back to the judgement of the northern kingdom: the Lord will destroy it and its capital, Samaria. The accusation and judicial sentences in this section indicate the Lord is both judge and punisher.
Structure:
Verses 1-7: The government of the promised Son.
Verses 8-21: the punishment of Samaria.
Principle 17, verse 9:2 : “---The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.”
Lesson 17: Jesus grew up in Nazareth of Galilee, where many Gentiles lived(northern kingdom to which Isaiah prophesied). His parents learned that He would be a light to bring revelation to the Gentiles (Luke 2:32). The Lord Jesus called Himself “the light of the world” (John 8:12).
Principle 18: verse 9:13 “—For people do not turn to Him who strikes them, nor do they seek the Lord of hosts.”
Lesson 18: God spent many years warning Israel (northern kingdom)to turn from her wicked ways before He finally sent the Assyrians to destroy the nation and carry her people into captivity. He uses adversity to turn us to Him, not to destroy us.20/6/2021
