Study From the Book of Hosea, 6
In this part of the series, we continue on the biblical principles in this rich book of the Bible. Remind the reader that we are still in the second section of the book. The first section (chapters 1-3) deals with the personal life of Hosea who was commanded by God to get married with a prostate as a symbol of God being involved with an adulterous nation of Israel. In this current section of chapters 4-13, it deals with the consequences of sin: God’s judgement of Israel and also can be a warning for us if we continue to sin and not seeking repentance.
Principle 13 (7:7): “None among them calls upon Me.”
Lesson 13: The Lord invites us to come to Him in prayer at any time of the day, for any reason, with any problem or challenge or request. What keeps us from taking Him up on His open-ended offer?
Principle 14 (7:13): “ ...Through I redeemed them, yet they have spoken lies against Me.”
Lesson 14: we might say, we never speak lies about the Lord, but indeed we do, when we say that He has forgotten about us, it is a lie. When we say that He does not keep His promises also is a lie. Such lies bring us nothing but pain.
Principle 15 (7:14): “They did not cry out to Me with their heart when they wailed upon their beds.”
Lesson 15: Affliction, or suffering does not necessary bring us back to the Lord. It depends what we do about it. Affliction should be an invitation for repentance. A cry of anguish is not the same as a cry for mercy.
