Study From the Book of Hosea ,5
Here is part five of the series of the study from the book of Hosea. In the previous part of the series, we saw the consequences of not obeying the commandments of God; we will be prone to destruction, lack of blessings and also poor judgment that put us in unnecessary hardship.
In this part of the series, God allows affliction to draw us to Him and to pursue His knowledge.
Principle 10: “ – In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me.”
Lesson 10: God does not use affliction (trials, temptations) because He enjoys it; He uses affliction because sometimes that is the only language we understand, the only warning we will heed.
Principle 11: “Let us know, let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord—“
Lesson 11: The result of the affliction in the above principle is to repent and turn to God. But in doing that we need to know Him, so let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. While we can do much of this on our own, also God directs us to pursue Him together with other believers who also love Him.
Principle 12: “For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.”
Lesson 12: God hates scarifies without showing mercy to others. Repeatedly in the Scripture, the Lord tells us that while He has no desires for half hearted religious ritual, He greatly desires hearts on fire for Him-those who will joyfully love God and love others
