Study From the Book of Hebrews,3

Study From the Epistle to Hebrews, 3

Today is the third part of this series, where we study chapter two of this important book of the Scripture and as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

Chapter 2 talks about the salvation because “how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation?”  (Verse 3). The writer then talks about Jesus whom God sent Him to earth and made Him lower than Angels to defeat death which mankind spent all their lives fearing it.

God sent Him also to bring many sons to glory. For indeed He does not give aid to angels but He does give aid to the  seed of Abraham (verse16.

Structure:

Verse 1:4: do not neglect salvation

Verse 5:9: the Son made lower than angels

Verse 10:18: bringing many sons to glory

Principle 3: verse 2:14: “—that through death, He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil-“

Lesson 3: The Bible gives many reasons for Christ‘s coming to earth. One of them was to defeat Satan and forever take away his weapon of death, so that God’s people might say goodbye to fear and hello to life.

Principle 4: verse 2:18: “- For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.”

Lesson 4: Jesus knows what it feels like to be tempted. We can never say to Him, “You do not know what it is like.” Because He does. In fact , we know less of the pain of temptation than He does, since He never gave in to it.            12/4/2020
