                                        Study From the Epistle to Hebrews, 11

Today is the 11^th    part of this series where we study chapter 10 and as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

Remind ourselves that the letter was written mainly to the Jewish converts who still although they believed in the Lord, they continued in offering sacrifices in the Temple, fearing persecution by the other Jews. The writer (most likely Apostle Paul) continues in this topic that he started in the previous chapter that the animal sacrifices were insufficient. It was just a shadow of the sacrifice   that the Lord Jesus offered Himself on the Cross, once for all according to the will of God to redeem those who believe in Him from the wages of sin which is death. So they need to hold fast on this faith and do not cast away their confidence which has a great reward.

Structure:

Verse 1: 4: animal sacrifices insufficient

Verse 5:10: Christ’s death fulfils God’s will.

Verse 11: 18: Christ’s death perfects the sanctified

Verse 19: 25: hold fast your confession

Verse 26: 39: the just live by faith.

Principle 19: verse 10:4: “ – For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.”

Lesson 19: The shed blood of animals provided only a temporary covering of human sin.; it can never fully and finally pay the penalty for that sin. Only the blood of the GOD-MAN, Jesus Christ , has the power to take away sin.

Principle and lesson 20 : verse 10:31: Jehovah witness denies there is a hell or judgement after death. But this verse says the contrary. Those who reject the sacrifice of the Lamb Jesus will pay the wages of their sins by themselves and “it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
