Study From the Book of Haggai, 3
Today is the third part of the series, “Study From the Book of Haggai.” We study the biblical principles in chapter two of the book, the final chapter of this short book of the Old Testament. As usual we will pick up a couple of biblical principles that can be applied in biblical counselling.
Remind ourselves, that chapter two has three topics. From verse 1 to 9 Haggai talks about God’s glory will fill the new temple. Verses: 10 -19 Haggai declares the people’s sin and how God would bless obedience. Lastly from verse 20 to 23, Haggai encourages Zerubbabel with prophesies of blessings for his obedience.
Principle 3 verse 2:3: “Who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory? And how do you see it now? In comparison with it, is this not in your eyes as nothing?”
Lesson 3: Of course people who lived long at that time compared the Temple of Solomon with this current temple and felt dissatisfied. However God reassured them that the last temples are much better than the current ones as He points to the dwelling of the Holy Spirit in us as believers.
Principle 4 verse 2:4, “—be strong , all you people of the land,” says the Lord, “and work; for I am with you.”
Lesson 4: We can work hard and effectively for the Lord when we remember that He has promised to be with us. The awareness of God’s presence energizes us in our work. And at the end we should not forget to give Him the glory.
