Study From the Book of Galatians ,4
Today is the fourth part of this series, where we study chapter 3 in this vital book of the NT. And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that we can applied in biblical counselling.
In chapter 3, the Apostle Paul continues to rebuke the Galatians. They started by faith and now they want to continue in flesh. Or in other words they started by grace and now they want to continue in the Law of Moses. They slided back from what they done well, and the result is grave consequences , because the Law does not save but the grace through faith does. No wonder the Apostle Paul called them foolish. I believe it is also the message for us all today.
In chapter 3, the Apostle Paul examines four points:
Verse 1 to 9: Justification by faith and by faith alone.
Verse 10 to 18: the Law brings curse
Verse 19 to 25: the purpose of the Law
Verse 26 to 29: We are sons / daughters and heirs.
Principle 5, verse 3:3: “-Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh.”
Lesson 5: The entire Christian experience is to be lived by faith, from beginning to end. We are justified by grace through faith, we are sanctified by grace through faith, and we will be glorified by grace through faith.
Principle 6, verse 3:13: “- Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the Law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”).
Lesson 6: The Law is a “curse “to us in that it condemns our sin and therefore condemns us. Jesus, the sinless Son of God, accepted our rightful condemnation and the punishment we deserved when He willingly went to the Cross for us.
