Study From the Book of Galatians,2
Today we study the first chapter of this vital epistle of Paul. As usual, we pick up a couple of biblical; principles and lessons that can be applied in biblical counselling.
As mentioned in the introduction, Apostle Paul was very firm with the believers in Galatia. They left the simplicity of the gospel of Jesus Christ that salvation is only by faith, by faith alone. The good deeds come after. Unfortunately, they were back to the law of Moses, as the Jewish people convinced them that they should be Jewish first and follow the Law of Moses , then they can be Christians.
So Apostle Paul wrote this tough letter to warn them that they would lose their salvation completely if they walk in this road. Also he warns us today as well.
The structure of the first chapter is as follows:
Principle 1, verse 1:3,4: “—our Lord Jesus Christ...gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present age, according to the will of our God and Father.”
Lesson 1: Jesus saved us out of an “evil age” so that we might become blameless , children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom we should shine as lights.
Principle 2, verse 1:11: “- But I make known to you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man.”
Lesson 2: the gospel of salvation by grace through faith by which we receive new life through the risen Saviour, Jesus Christ – is not a human invention. Paul did not conceive it , not other disciples. It comes directly from God.17/3/2019
