Study From the Book of First Thessalonians,3

Study From the Book of the First Thessalonians,3

In this third part of the series, we study chapter 2 and as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be applied in biblical counselling.

In chapter 2,the apostle Paul talks about his conduct as apostle. He suffered a great opposition when he was in Philippi before coming to Thessalonians, however this opposition did not prevent him from preaching the gospel with boldness. He then confessed that he was longing to come to meet them in person but Satan hindered him.

The structure of this chapter is as follows:

1.Verse 1 to 12: Paul’s conduct

Verse 13 to 16: Their conversion.

Verse 17 to 20: Paul longing to see them.

Principle 3: 2:2: “ But even after we had suffered before and were spitefully treated at Philippi, as you know , we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God in much conflict.”

Lesson 3: Paul spoke the truth in boldness without fear. But where he got that boldness. The only reliable source is “in God.” Boldness inspired by the Spirit, cannot be quenched by suffering or conflict.

Principle 4: 2:18: “ –therefore we wanted to come to you-even I, Paul, time and again-but Satan hindered us.”

Lesson 4: So, would Paul talks with nonsense or of lack  of faith. This is absolutely wrong. Although the opposition of Satan is real, Paul knew that the might of Satan is no match for the great power of God. God can turn even Satan’s victories into blessings for His people. 15/9/2019
