Study From the Book of First Corinthians,8
We are back to the study from the book of the first Corinthians where we study chapter 7. And as usual we pick a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be applied in biblical counselling.
Chapter 7 is a popular chapter for biblical counsellors as it talks about Christian marriage and divorce among Christians. The latter unfortunately has become not uncommon even among believers.
In chapter 7, the apostle Paul deals with four main topics;
Principle 13, verse 7:5 “–Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time, that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayers; and come together again.”
Lesson 13: Physical intimacy is a key and vital part of every Christian marriage. Believing couples should abstain from it only:
Principle 14, verse 7:11: “- But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife.”
Lesson 14: Paul follows the lead of the Old Testament and of Jesus on the topic of divorce. His teaching on grace does not mean that spouses can divorce at will; it means that God can give them the strength to persevere.
