Study From the Book of First Corinthians,15
Today is the 15th part of the series, “Study From the Book of First Corinthians.” Here we study chapter 14 and as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be used in biblical counselling.
Chapter 14 is the continuation of chapter 12 (chapter 13 talks about love). Both chapters talk about the spiritual gifts. However in chapter 14, the apostle Paul talks about the two controversial gifts of the speaking in tongues and the prophecy. However, he makes a preference for the prophesy as it builds the church as a whole, but speaking in tongues builds oneown’s spiritual life and his/her relation with God.
Chapter 14 has three main topics:
Principle 27, verse 14:33, “- For God is not the author of confusion but of peace—“
Lesson 27: Everyone knows who is the author of confusion ? Of course it is Satan or the devil. In contrast,God does not tell one person to do something that completely contradicts and invalidates what He told someone else to do. Nor does He ever lead in opposition to His eternal Word. He is the God of order.
Principle 28 verse 14:40 :“- Let all things be done decently and in order-"
Lesson 28: In continuation with the above idea, God wants everything in our lives to be organised and in order including the church activities. Chaos is never a sign of God’s leading. When something spirals out of control, you can be sure that God did not design it. He may lead unusual ways, but He will never lead in inconsistent ways. 11/11/2018.
