Study From the Book of First Cornithians,13
Today we study chapter 12 of this vital Epistle of Paul and as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be applied in biblical counselling.
Chapter 12 is the golden chapter as the apostle Paul talks (with chapter 14) about the nine charismatic spiritual gifts of the Holy Spirit. More details about these gifts are explained in my book, “The Mustard Seed Counselling.” Autherhouse publication 2016.
In chapter 12, the apostle Paul talks about the nine Spiritual gifts in two main parameters:
Principle 23, verse 12:7: “—But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.”
Lesson 23: Every believer once comes to faith in Christ , should receive at least one gift of those 9 gifts in this chapter, not merely to encourage and build up his/her own life of faith(although this can be case) but more particularly to build up the faith of the whole church.
Principle 24 verse 10:13: “- But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as he wills.”
Lesson 24: According to 1 Corinthians 14:1, the gift of prophesy should be prayed for by the church as a whole. Apart from this gift, a believer should eagerly ask God for the other gifts, but it depends upon the Holy Spirit to give gifts as He wills. 28/10/2018
