Study From the Book of First Corinthians,12

Study From the Book of First Corinthians,12

Today we study chapter 11 of this vital Epistle of Paul and as usual we pick a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be applied in biblical counselling.

In chapter 11, the apostle Paul talks about four main topics:

  1. The head covering for men and women at church and its spiritual meaning: from verse 1 to 16.
  2. Conduct and misconduct at the Lord’s Supper: from verse 17 to 22.
  3. Institution of the Lord’s Supper: from verse 23 to 26
  4. Lastly, the importance of examining one’s self: from   verse 27 to 34.

Principle 21: 11:26: “-For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes.”

Lesson 21: The Lord ’s Supper not only looks back at Christ’s sacrifice and gives Him praise for His willing obedience to the Father, but also looks ahead to that day when we will see Him again and reign with Him in power.

Principle 22 verse 11:32- : “- But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the world.”

Lesson 22: God does not discipline His erring children because He is disgusted with them, but because He wants to spare them the greater pain that comes because of persistent disobedience. His mercy prompts His discipline.
