Study From the Book of Ezekiel,9
Today is the ninth part of this series where we study chapter nine. We pick up a couple of biblical principles with lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.
In this chapter, Ezekiel describes the judgement of God on the temple, Jerusalem, and Judah. The reasons of God’s wrath are three folds:
The judgement is carried out by One man in addition of six. One man is representing the presence and purity of the holy God. However, the judgement spares the remnant ,a group of chosen people who are saved from destruction. Those who are the obedient of God’s commands.
Structure:
Verses 1-11: the wicked are slain.
Principles 16, verse 9:4“-----Go through the midst of the city----and out a mark on the foreheads of the men who sigh and cry over all abominations that done within it.”
Lesson 16: God ordered His angels to distinguish between those who honoured Him and those who did not. When it came time for judgement, He would spare His faithful people. “Do not come near anyone on whom is the mark.” Verse 6.
Principle 17, verse 9:9: “----The iniquity of the house of Israel and Judah is exceedingly great—for they say , ‘The Lord has forsaken the land and the Lord does not see!’”
Lesson 17: Most Israelites completely misunderstood what happened during the Babylonian invasions. They did not see them for what they were-a prophesied divine judgement- but rather as proof that God had lost interest. God considered this perspective deeply evil. 09/10/2022
