Study From the Book of Ezekiel,5
Today is the fifth part of this series where we study chapter five. We pick up one biblical principle with a lesson that can be useful in biblical counselling.
In this chapter the Lord declares sword against the sinful people. The personal God of the Hebrews had given them the city (Jerusalem) as an inheritance. God loved it and established it as the centre of the world, because the temple is there.
But the people of the city not only refused to keep the law but also commited sin that was even worse than that of the nations around them. They had failed to follow even the moral laws that were common among the pagans.
So the judgement will be worse in extend than ever before, with terrible famine that will lead to cannibalism. God will send plagues and diseases. People will be killed by the sword. All these because they defiled the temple and turned to idolatry instead of worshipping the living God.
Structure:
Verses 1-17: a sword against Jerusalem.
Principles 9, verse 5:15: “-----So it shall be a reproach, a taunt, a lesson, and an astonishment to the nations that are all around you, when I execute judgement among you in anger and in fury and in furious rebuke.”
Lesson 9: All along, God intended for Israel to serve as an advertisement to the world’s nations regarding the goodness and holiness of God. If she refused to play the role in blessing, she would play it in judgement. 28/08/2022.
