Study From the Book of Ezekiel,48

Study From the Book of Ezekiel,48

Today is the final part of this series where we study chapter 48. Here we pick up one biblical principle and its lesson which is useful in biblical counselling.

Ezekiel’s vision of the restoration of the land is as follows: the boundaries of the restored nation of Israel approach the boundaries of the land as it was under David and Solomon. However, the area east of the Jordan- Gilead and Transjordan will not be part of this new inheritance. It was not part of the land that had been promised.

The central portion of the land around Jerusalem will be set apart for religion and government.  To the north of the central district are seven tribes: Dan, Asher, Naphtali, Manasseh, Ephraim, Reuben and Judah. To the south are the remaining five tribes: Benjamin, Simon, Issachar, Zebulun, and Gad.

The name of the city will be changed to YHWH Shammah: THE LORD IS THERE.

Structure:

Verses 1-29: division of the land

Verses 30-35: the gates of the city and its name.

Principle 70: verse 48:35 — “— and the name of the city from that day shall be THE LORD IS THERE.”

Lesson 70: the Lord was forced to depart from the city and the temple because of the wickedness of the Israelites. But here, Ezekiel foresees the return of God in all His glory to His people, His temple and His land. Although this prophecy will happen at the time of the millennium when the Lord Jesus physically reigns over the world from Jerusalem, its application is for today. God will leave His people, churches because of their sins, but He promises to return with blessings if the people, churches repent their sins. (6/8/2023).
