Today is the forty-seventh part of this series where we study chapter 47. Here we pick up one biblical principle and its lesson which is useful in biblical counselling.

This golden chapter of the book of Ezekiel carries the symbolic picture of the Holy Spirit (the living water),although the picture of the river and its water will happen literally in a prophetic way at the millennium when the Lord Jesus will reign physically on earth from Jerusalem.

The waters  from under the right side of the alter (refers to the sacrifice that the Lord Jesus made of himself on the cross,) and progressively gets deeper from the ankle (walking in Spirit).to knees (praying in Spirit), to waist (getting strength in Spirit) and finally to deep and wide to cross except by swimming (getting filled with the Spirit).

The waters become a river of healing and the source of abundant life for everyone. The dead sea ,which the water flows in it, will be healed from being salty unable to support life, to the living water that God provides, which  has immeasurable power to renew, restore, and resurrect life from abundant fish in it to multitude of trees bear fruit every month. Their fruit will be for food, and their leaves for medicine.

Structure:

Verses 1-12: the healing waters and trees.

Verses 13-23: borders of the land.

Principle 69: verse 47:9 — “—There will be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters go there; for they will be healed, and everything will live wherever the river goes.”

Lesson 69: A vibrant river pictures the abundant life that God offers (through the Holy Spirit) all of those who come to Him in faith. John in Revelations 22:1 (and Ezekiel here) envisions “a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb.” 30/7/2023.
