Study From the Book of Ezekiel,46

Today is the forty-sixth part of this series where we study chapter 46. Here we pick up one biblical principle and its lesson which is useful in biblical counselling.

What the rituals signified under the Law was fulfilled by the Messiah. At the time of this prince certain promises were fulfilled and the covenants consummated in the messianic age. Obviously, this prince will not be the Lord Jesus in the millennium, but in a prophetic way here, he is symbolic to the Lord Jesus in His entry to Jerusalem victorious the week before the cross.

The people of the land are the citizens of the Promised Land during this messianic period. The prescribed protocol was probably to ensure procession and service. Such regulations would be needed on the special feast days due to the participation of large numbers of people.

The prince has sons and servants, so again he cannot be the Messiah. Inheritance laws and family claims related to property continue as an important feature of life in Israel.

Again, the prince’s character is described in sharp contrast to many of Israel’s previous leaders

Principle 68: verse 46:9 — “—But when the people of Israel come before the Lord on the appointed feast days, whoever enters by way of the north gate to worship shall go out by the way of the south gate, and whoever enters by way of south gate shall go by way of the north gate. He shall not return by the way of the gate through which he came, but shall go out through the opposite gate.”

Lesson 68: worshipping God should be an orderly procession and highly organised. Here is the protocol proscribed for the citizens of the promised land during the messianic period but there is a lesson for us today(23/7/2023).
