Study From the Book of Ezekiel,44
Today is the forty-fourth part of this series where we study chapter 44. Here we pick up one biblical principle and its lesson which is useful in biblical counselling.
Ezekiel experiences another awe-inspiring vision of God’s glory leading him to bow in worship. God demands that His renewed people follow His regulations exactly. He emphasises the necessity of holiness and righteousness especially in light of Israel’s past abominations.
God explains to Ezekiel why the Levites would be limited to the sons of Zadok in the Levitical line who remained faithful when others did not. Again, there is emphasis on holiness and righteousness. The Zadokites were honoured for their special obedience.
Structure:
Verses 1-3: the east gate and the prince
Verses 4-9: those admitted to the temple
Verses 10-31: laws governing priests.
Principle 66: verse 44:2 — “—And the Lord said to me ‘this gate (the east gate) shall be shut, it shall not be opened ----.”
Lesson 66: Why this gate should be shut? From the text we understand that because God entered the temple through it. However, there is another meaning as God wants to say He will never leave the temple again. Another explanation is that God will prevent the future Jews from worshipping the Sun (the sun rises from the east) as they did in the past. This verse also tell us to shut any doors that caused us to worship idols for example the love of money-9/7/2023.
