Study From the Book of Ezekiel,4

Study From the Book of Ezekiel,4

Today is the fourth part of this series where we study chapter four and as usual, we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

In this chapter, the prophet Ezekiel describes the siege of Jerusalem. The most straightforward interpretation is the punishment of exile and Gentile rule inflicted upon the Hebrew nation over 430-year period as extending from 597 to 167 B.C. This was the time Jewish rule returned to Judah, through the Maccabean revolt.

All this would occur because of Judah’s inequity. The people had broken their covenant with God and He had no choice but to bring upon the promised consequences of their disobedience.

Structure:

Verses 1-17: the siege of Jerusalem portrayed.

Principles 7: verse 4:1: “-----You also the son of man, take a clay tablet and lay it before you, and portray on it a city, Jerusalem.”

Lesson 7: Ezekiel was to publicly “lay siege” to his model city to dramatize the coming siege against the real Jerusalem. God uses a wide variety of ways to try help us understand His Word.”

Principle 8, verse 4:15 “----Then He said to me, ‘see, I am giving you cow dung instead of human waste, and you shall prepare your bread over it.’”

Lesson 8: God graciously works within our human limitations to accomplish His purpose. When Ezekiel recoiled from an object lesson involving ceremonial uncleanness, God accommodated him.21/8/2022
