Study From the Book of Ezekiel,36
Today is the thirty-sixth part of this series where we study chapter 36. Here we pick up two biblical principles and their lessons which are useful in biblical counselling.
God had given His people the Promised Land as a place where they could show the world the difference it makes to follow God. They failed to follow God, so He forced them out of the land. Through either their obedience or their disobedience, God would demonstrate to the watching world His personality, power, and plans.
However, the ritual of purification from sin would be empty and meaningless apart from true repentance and regenerating and empowering work of the Holy Spirit on the inner spirit of individuals. God would not restore His people physically to the land, but would restore them spiritually by giving them a new heart and a new spirit to help them follow Him and do His will.
Structure:
Verses 1-15: blessing on Israel
Verses 16-38: the renewal of Israel
Principle 55: verse 36:21 — “But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among nations wherever they went.”
Lesson 55: Our behaviour not only reflects how much or little we love God, but it also either attracts or repels those who do not yet know God. Our connection to God should draw others to God.
Principle 56: verse 36:26: --” I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”
Lesson 56: God does not want remoulded hearts, but a brand-new spirit that loves to do His will. He wants transformation, not mere accommodation. 7/5/2023.
