Study From the Book of Ezekiel,31
Today is the thirty first part of this series where we study chapter 31. Here we pick up one biblical principle and its lesson which are useful in biblical counselling.
In this chapter, Ezekiel prophesied about the fall of Egypt after the fall of Assyria. Egypt was compared to Assyria in greatness and presumably in its great pride over its achievements. Ezekiel uses another allegory of a cedar in Lebanon. Assyria at one time was the highest tree. But it had been cut down as its capital Nineveh fell in 612 B.C., signalling the end of Assyrian domination and the beginning of neo-Babylonian control of the ancient Middle-East.
Structure:
Verses 1-18: Egypt cut down like a great tree.
Principle 48, verse 31:17“—they also went down to hell with it, with those slain by the sword; and those who were its strong arm dwelt in its shadows among the nations.”
Lesson 48: Those who have similar sin of pride, would finally fallen down by God. God hates pride. All our achievements are from God and we should give Him all praise and glory.19/3/2023.
