Study From the Book of Ezekiel,3

Study From the Book of Ezekiel,3

Today is the third part of this series where we study chapter three and as usual, we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

God gave Ezekiel instruction (scroll) and commanded him to eat it. The sympolic act of eating the scroll demonstrated that Ezekiel internalizes the message in preparation for speaking to the people.

Although no linguistic barrier existed between Ezekiel and the nation, Israel would pay less attention to the prophet than foreigners. The nation would reject the truth and it can be harder than those who hear it for the first time.

God equipped Ezekiel to do this difficult task. He told Ezekiel that he  was to make it clear that his message and authority came from God and he must continue to speak regardless of his audience’s responses.

That warning message given to Ezekiel was similar to that given to a military watchman. In ancient times. If the watchman failed to give the alarm to the city in a time of peril, the blood of the city would be required of him. But if the watchman sounded the alarm and the city did not respond, the watchman could hardly be blamed.

Structure:

Verses 1-15: Ezekiel sent to rebellious Israel.

Verses 16-27: Ezekiel is a watchman.

Principles 5: verse 3:10: “-----Son of man, receive into your heart all My words that I speak to you, and hear with your ears.”

Lesson 5: Listening to God is essential to walking with God. Listening requires not only straining to hear His voice, but also taking His words so seriously that they set up shop in the deepest place of our hearts.

Principle 5, verse 3:27: “----He who hears, let him hear and he who refuses, let him refuse.”

Lesson 5: God lets us choose whether we will open our ears to listen or whether we will refuse to hear. The Lord Jesus often said, “He who has ears to hear , let him hear!” (Mark 4:9). We get what we choose (Rev. 22:11). 14/8/2022.
