Study From the Book of Ezekiel,29
Today is the twenty-ninth part of this series where we study chapter 29. Here we pick up one biblical principle and its lesson which are useful in biblical counselling.
In this chapter, God (through Ezekiel) made proclamation against Egypt. God’s purpose of judging Egypt was to encourage the nations and individuals to come to know Him. Egypt weakness in the hands of God was like a staff of reed, easily broken. This alludes to Egypt weakness as an ally and the worthlessness of that country protection. Judah should instead have turned to God for security and strength.
Egyptians would experience a scattering to other lands for forty years. A Babylonian chronicle suggests Egypt was conquered around 568 B.C. Forty years after this date, the Persians instituted a policy of resettlement for many people (including Egyptians) who had been dispersed by Babylon.
Structure:
Verses 1-16: proclamation against Egypt.
Verses 17- 21: Babylonia will plunder Egypt.
Principle 46, verse 28:12 “—It shall be the lowliest of kingdoms; it shall never again exalt itself above the nations, for I will diminish them so that they will not rule over nations anymore.”
Lesson 46: who but God could have declared that Egypt, the ancient ruler of nations, would fall so completely from the heights and never again become a world superpower? No one at the time could have-except God(5/3/2023).
