Study From the Book of Ezekiel,28
Today is the twenty-eightieth part of this series where we study chapter 28. Here we pick up two biblical principle and their lessons which are useful in biblical counselling.
In this chapter, Ezekiel prophesies on the king of Tyre. Some verses here meant to be the devil (Satan). These verses could not be applied on human king, like he was in the garden of Eden and was anointed cherub, full of perfection, beauty, and wisdom when he was created till iniquity was found in him as he fell because of the sin of pride.
Ezekiel ends this chapter by prophesying of the end of the age when the Lord Jesus will reign in the millennium when the Jews will gather from dispersion among the nations to return and dwell in their own land, the land of Canaan that God had given to Jacob. Then, it will be the end of the foreign nations ability to attack Israel leading to time of peace, prosperity, and protection.
Structure:
Verses 1-10: proclamation against the king of Tyre.
Verses 11- 19: lamination for the king of Tyre.
Verses 20-24: proclamation against Sidon.
Verses 25-26: Israel’s future blessing.
Principle 44, verse 28:12 “—You were the seal of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.”
Lesson 44: many scholars believe this passage speaks of Satan and how through his rebellion he lost privileged place in heaven and became the devil. As a fallen angel, he posses power but not all power.
Principle 45, verse 28:17: --“Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendour.”
Lesson 45: what made Lucifer into the devil? Pride He forgot that nay wisdom and beauty and splendour he had came as a gift from God, to reflect God’s glory and not his own. We must beware the same deadly mistake.26/2/2023.
