Study From the Book of Ezekiel,26
Today is the twenty-sixth part of this series where we study chapter 26. Here we pick up one biblical principle and its lesson which are useful in biblical counselling.
The fulfilment of this prophecy of Tyre’s fate began with the long siege of the city by the Babylonian army under Nebuchadnezzar (580-570 B.C.). He ruled the Neo-Babylonian Empire from 605-570 B.C.B. The second phase came with the Persian conquest in about 525 B.C., followed by the final and famous siege of 332 B.C. by the Greeks under Alexander the Great which complete the prediction of this passage. Now, Tyre is ceased to exist
Structure:
Verses 1-21: proclamation against Tyre.
Principle 42, verse 26:4,5 “—And they shall destroy the walls of Tyre and break down her towers; I will also scrape her dust from her, and make her like the top of a rock. It shall be a place for spreading nets.”
Lesson 42: Ezekiel prophecy about the fate of Tyre is a remarkable example of fulfilled prophecy. While at the height of her power, Ezekiel predicted she would become a place of dry fishing nets-exactly what she is today (12/2/2023).
