Study From the Book of Ezekiel,24

Study From the Book of Ezekiel,24

Today is the twenty-fourth part of this series where we study chapter 24. Here we pick up two biblical principles and lessons which are useful in biblical counselling.

The chapter starts by  date, This date is the very day that Nebuchadnezzar-king of Babylon began his attack on Jerusalem. God tells Ezekiel the parable of the cooking pot which explains God’s judgement on the city which He loves and His wrath would fall equally on all inhabitants of the city , for they all had sinned.

In the next passage, God took Ezekiel’s wife as a sign of the overwhelming sadness the nation would feel when Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed.

Structure:

Verses 1- 14: symbol of the cooking pot.

Verses 15-27: Ezekiel’s wife dies.

Principle 39, verse 24:16 “— Son of man, behold, I take away from you the desire of your eyes with one stroke; yet you shall neither mourn nor weep, nor shall your tears run down.”

Lesson 39: God required hard things of His servants the prophets. Here He told Ezekiel not to weep when his beloved wife died. God will use the most extraordinary measures to try to wake up His sleeping people to their imminent danger.

Principle 40, 24:24: “---Thus Ezekiel is a sign to you; according to all that he has done you shall do; and when this comes, you shall know that I am the Lord God.”

Lesson 40: God made Ezekiel’s whole life into a “sign” or a living message to Israel. He will move heaven and earth, if necessary, to show us His will. Our job is to obey it through the power of the Spirit (29/01/2023).
