Study From the Book of Ezekiel,16
Today is the sixteenth part of this series where we study chapter 16. Here we pick up two biblical principles and lessons that are useful in biblical counselling.
God reminded Jerusalem that He had rescued her from being like an abandoned new-born child, unwashed, unsanitary, and exposed to elements to die. God alone had given her life and glory.
In contrast Jerusalem abandoned God and worshipped idols that included sexual impurities rituals. So, she committed adultery and deemed to be a prostitute. Even more, Jerusalem committed more sins than that were committed in Sodom and Samaria, so she deserved punishment and been exiled in Babylon and the temple was destroyed.
However, God remembered the everlasting covenant He made with Abraham and rescued His people. Furthermore, God would provide atonement through the New Covenant, which pointed ultimately to the Cross of Christ.
Structure:
Verses 1-30: God’s love for Jerusalem
Verses 31-34: Jerusalem’s adultery.
Verses 35-43: Jerusalem’s lovers will abuse Her,
Verses 44-59: more wicked than Samaria and Sodom.
Verses 60-63: An everlasting covenant.
Principle 27, verse 16:6 “—And when I passed by you and saw you struggling in your own blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘live! ‘“
Lesson 27: We owe our very lives to God. Without Him, we are a mess. Without Him we wallow in our blood, unable to grow and thrive. He sees us in our moral ugliness and yet says to us, “Live!”
Principle 28, verse 16:14: “Your fame went out among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through My splendour which I had bestowed on you, “says the Lord God.
Lesson 28: Judah forgot that any good thing it had, it had received from God. We should never make the same mistake, any success, talent, ability, insight, or strength we have comes from Him. We should use it for His glory(4/12/2022).
