Study From the Book of Ezekiel,15

Study From the Book of Ezekiel,15

Today is the fifteenth part of this series where we study chapter 15. Here we pick up one biblical principle and its lesson that are useful in biblical counselling.

In this chapter, God uses the vine as symbolic of the Israelites still in Jerusalem. God had designed the people of Israel for a particular purpose, to bring glory to His name by living faithfully to His covenant and by brining the nations to the knowledge of the Lord. Instead, Israel had become like the pagan nations around them. Israel had persisted in unfaithfulness and had failed to trust God’s power.

Jerusalem and by implication, the entire nation, had not faced exile before but now would be disciplined by another fire. This refers to additional destruction and deportation to be brought by Nebuchadnezzar whose arms burned Jerusalem in 586 B.C. The Judeans had already endured two deportations to Babylon, in 605 and 597 B.C.

Structure:

Verses 1-15: The outcast Vine.

Principles 26, verse 15:8 “—Thus I will make the land desolate, because they have persisted in unfaithfulness” says the Lord God. “

Lesson 26: to persist in unfaithfulness is to invite God’s judgement. Paul says, “If we judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are judged, we are chastened by the Lord” (1 Cor:11:31,32). 27/11/2022.
