Study From the Book of Ezekiel,14
Today is the fourteenth part of this series where we study chapter 14. Here we pick up one biblical principle and its lesson that are useful in biblical counselling.
God revealed to Ezekiel that this group of the elders of Israel consisted of double-minded men. Outwardly, they came to seek a word from God through His true prophet, but in their hearts, they harboured loyalties to other gods. God knows all hearts and minds, and He asked Ezekiel a rhetorical about whether He ought to give revelatory guidance to such religious hypocrites.
God responded to these hypocrites by allowing them to experience the practical consequences of disbelief and disobediences Their idiolatry consisted not only the theological errors of worshiping other gods, but also the immorality that was a natural result of hearts turning away from the living God.
Evil is never caused by God, but He permits the suffering it brings to the world. This process punishes the unrepentant, encourages sinners to repent and purifies the righteous.
Structure:
Verses 1-11: idolatry will be punished.
Verses 12-23: judgement of persistent unfaithfulness
Principles 25, verse 14:3 “—son of man, these men have set up their idols in their hearts-“
Lesson 25:we don’t have to set up idols of wood and stone at a physical shrine in order to engage in idiolatry, If there is anything that we honour above God, we have already made it an idol in our hearts.(20/11/2022).
