Study From the Book of Ezekiel,2

Study From the Book of Ezekiel,2

Today is the second part of this series where we study chapter two and as usual, we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be useful in biblical counselling.

Ezekiel uses the phrase “Son of Man,” more than 90 times in his book to emphasize his humanity in his God-given role as a spokesman for God. In the Old Testament, only Daniel also employed this phrase as in Daniel 7:13 and 8:17. In the New Testament, this phrase (the human one) is used frequently by the Lord Jesus, the long-waited Messiah who came as God in the flesh.

Ezekiel was called to speak God’s message to the children of Israel who repel against God. In contrast to rebellious Israel, Ezekiel was to set an example by being receptive and listening to God’s message.

Ezekiel then saw a scroll written on both sides the lengthy transgressions of the nation and its need for lengthy laminations.

Although Ezekiel would later bring words of comfort and consolations, his first prophecies from God contained only sorrow and sadness.

Structure:

Verses 1-10: Ezekiel sent to rebellious Israel.

Principles 3: verse 2:1,2: “-----And He said to me, “Son of man, stand on your feet, and I will speak to you.” Then the Spirit entered me when He spoke to me, and set me on my feet-- .”

Lesson 3: God never gives us a command that He doesn’t also give us the ability to fulfil. He never calls us to a task without also enabling us to complete it. God makes possible what He commands.

Principle 4, verse 2:6: “----And you , son of man do not be afraid of them nor be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns are with you and you dwell among scorpions .”

Lesson 4: God sent Ezekiel to speak to a nation He called “rebellious” and impudent” and “stubborn” and “hard-hearted”—not an easy task! But since God would be with Ezekiel, the prophet did not have to fear. 7/8/2022.
