Study From the Book of Daniel, 7
Today is the seventh part of this series where we study chapter seven and as usual, we pick up two biblical principles and their lessons which are useful in biblical counselling.
Chapters 7 to 12, we move to the prophetic section of the Book of Daniel. In this chapter, Daniel saw a vision of 4 beasts represent kings or kingdoms. The first one is the lion with eagle’s wings represents Babylonian Empire. The second beast is the bear raised up on one side represents the Medo-Persians who overcome the Babylonian. One side suggests that the Persians were greater and more powerful than the Medes.
The third beast is the Leopard represent the Greek Empire. After the death of Alexandre the Great, four of his generals took the power of Macedonia, Egypt, Syria, and Thrace.
The fourth beast did not look like any known animal. Since this beast follows Greece, it may represent Rome. The horns represent rulers. Even the little one begins small, it would become the greatest of all.
Then comes the Ancient of Days referred to God the Father as certified by the submission of “the One like the Son of Man” to Him. And His role of judgement as Fiery flame symbolizes judgement. The books record the names and the deeds of those who will be judged.
The Son of Man has identified as the Messiah, the Lord Jesus is coming with clouds. He is coming for judgement. In contrast to the vanishing nature of the previous empires, His dominion is everlasting.
Structure:
Verses 1-8: vision of four beasts
Verses 9-14: vision of the Ancient of Days
Verses 15-28: Daniel’s visions interpreted.
Principle 13 verse 7:13: “---I was watching in the night vision, and behold, One like the Son of Man, coming with the clouds of heaven."
Lesson 13: Jesus claimed the verse for Himself in Mathew 26:64, causing an uproar in the Sanhedrin. They considered it blasphemy- but the only blasphemy that day was theirs. For not recognising the Messiah in front of them.
Principle 14: verse 7:25:” ---Then the saints shall be given into his hand for a time and times and half a time.”
Lesson 14: God’s blessing for obedience is not always obvious or immediate. Many believers have died for their obedience, and many more will. But the crown of life is well worth waiting for.8/10/2023.
