Study From the Book of Daniel, 6
Today is the sixth part of this series where we study chapter six and as usual, we pick up two biblical principles and their lessons which are useful in biblical counselling.
Daniel was appointed as a governor in the new Medo-Persian reign. Daniel was surpassing in his ability to do his job and perhaps includes a commendable attitude.
However, his enemies knew that when the law of the land conflicted with the law of His God, Daniel would break the former in favour of the latter.
So, Daniel's enemies succeeded in getting king Darious sign a decree,in thirty days, for whoever worshiped other gods would be thrown in lions’ den. And this decree would not be revoked- even by the king himself.
Undermined by the royal proclamation, Daniel resumed praying by the windows of his house that opened towards Jerusalem-that towards the west. Daniel accusers did not describe him as governor, but as one of the captives from Judah, in order to implicate him in a treasonous act.
So, Daniel was thrown in lions ’den. However, God sent His angel and shut the lions ’mouths. Because Daniel’s faithfulness got him into trouble, his faith got him out of it.
King Dariuos having not sleeping that night, in the early morning, he called upon Daniel and wondered if he was still alive not been eaten by lions. After he discovered that Daniel’s God had saved him, he praised the God of Daniel and ordered that the accusers and their families to be thrown in the den where the hungry lions engulfed them.
