Study From the Book of Daniel, 4
Today is the fourth part of this series where we study chapter four and as usual, we pick up two biblical principles and their lessons which are useful in biblical counselling.
Nebuchadnezzar had a second dream. This dream composed of a large tree with leaves and fruits. Animal shaded behind it and birds’ nests were in its branches. However, it was cut down, leaving the root and stem to grow again after 7 years.
The King gathered the magicians and told them the dream but they could not interpret it. So, the king called for Daniel and told him the dream. Having come to an understanding of Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, Daniel was so upset by its content that he hesitated to divulge its meaning.
Daniel indicated that Nebuchadnezzar was the tree and he was the source of abundant blessing of all. Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom extended from heaven to the ends of the earth. However, the tree-Nebuchadnezzar-would be cut down that indicated Nebuchadnezzar would become insane, animal -like in his habits and senses. Yet in that condition he would learn more of God than he ever had before.
After 7 years, Nebuchadnezzar learned to be humbled before he could be exalted again. The chastisement of God is always for a holy and helpful purpose.
