Study From the Book of Daniel, 10
Today is the tenth part of this series where we study chapter 10 and as usual, we pick up two biblical principles and their lessons which are useful in biblical counselling.
This prominent chapter gives us a glimpse of the spiritual warfare that Apostle Paul talks about it in Ephesians 6.
Here, Daniel prayed for 21 days for God to give him more visions, without answers from God. However, a man (with description like what John’s description of the triumphant, risen Christ), appeared to him and explained to him that the reason of the delay was that the prince of the kingdom of Persia of a demoniac Satanic nature hindered him from coming to Daniel on the first day of his prayer and continued to do that until Michael, the archangel who is appointed to be the prince of God’s kingdom on earth, came to help him.
For three times Daniel was strengthened supernaturally by the like-man (properly the Lord Jesus as above). First touch enabled Daniel to arise from the ground. Second, to speak, and the third, to carry on a conversation.
Persia was under the ultimate dominion of Satan, so also Greece. Once the prince of Persia was overcome, the messenger would enter into conflict with the prince of Greece. The succession of the world powers follows the pattern of Daniel’s second vision.
Structure:
Verses 1-9: vision of the glorious man
Verses 10-21: prophecies concerning Persia and Greece.
Principle 18 verse 10:7“---And I, Daniel, alone saw the vision, for the men who were with me did not see the vision: but a great terror fell upon them---."
Lesson 1: the Lord told Moses, “No man shall see Me, and live.” Ex.33:20. Paul said “God dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see” Tim 6:16. And yet even God’s invisible presence makes men tremble.
Principle 19: verse 10:13--“But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days--- .”
Lesson 19: We get a small glimpse here of the spiritual realities of unseen warfare that take place around the prayers of God’s people. What if Daniel had ceased to pray when he did not immediately get an answer? 29/10/2023.
