Study From the Book of Colossians, 5
Today is the fifth and final part of this series where we study chapter 4. And as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be applied in biblical counselling.
In chapter 4, the apostle Paul talks about the Christian graces as we , as believers , walk in this fallen world. We should walk in wisdom and be vigilant in prayers with thanksgiving, proclaiming the mystery of Christ to the ousiders.
He then ends this epistle by greetings and blessings.
The structure is as follows:
Verse 1:6: Christian graces
Verse 7: 15: final greetings
Verse 16:18: closing with blessings
Principle 7,verse 4:5: “- Walk in wisdom toward those are outside, redeeming the time.”
Lesson 7: in this fallen world with full of deception and betrayal, we need wisdom also we need to redeem the time to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to outsiders.
Principle 8, verse 4:14 : “- Luke the beloved physician and Demas greet you.”
Lesson 8: two examples of believers contradicted each other. Luke started well and ended well. On the contrary , Demas started well and at the time when Paul wrote this epistle he was doing well . However, he ended not well as Paul wrote in 2 Timothy that he left him as he loved this present world. (2 Tim 4:10). the lesson is for us all. 25/8/2019
