Study From the Book of Colossians,4

Study From the Book of Colossians, 4

Today is back to the study from the book of Colossians, where we study chapter 3. As mentioned in the introduction, chapters 1 and 2 deal with the doctrine of Christ as the Head of the Church. However, in chapters 3 and 4, Paul deals with practical application of this crucial doctrine.

Bearing this in mind, the Apostle  Paul first talks about the new creation in Christ after salvation and the characters of the new man. Then he talks about the Christian home and how that should be.

Structure:

  1. Verse 1 to 11: Not carnality (flesh) but Christ.
  2. Verse 12 to 17: characters of the new man
  3. Verse 18 to 25: the Christian home

Principle 5, verse 3:16: “ –Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs—“

Lesson 5: The “you” here, Paul refers to all the members of the Church of Jesus Christ. They cannot grow into maturity in Christ without teaching, admonishing (confrontation of sins in love) and walking in wisdom guided by the God’s Word.

Principle 6, verse 3:23: “—And whatever you do , do it heartily as to the Lord and not to men....”

Lesson 6: In a very real sense, everything we do, we do for Jesus. We can do our jobs for Christ, or we can do them for a cranky supervisor. If we set our minds like this, we will get a good reward in earth also in heaven.                                                            18/8/2019.
