Study from the Book of Amos, 3*
It is the sad bit. Amos now delivers God’s judgement message to the people of the Northern Kingdom, Israel. They refused to repent, now they will pay the consequences of their two sins: the worshiping other gods and social injustice.
Principle 3 (3:2) “You only have I known of all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your inequities.”
Lesson three: A relationship with God is not only a phenomenal privilege; it is also a great responsibility. “For time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God.”(1 Pet.4:17).
Principle 4(3:15) “I will destroy the winter house along with the summer house; the houses of ivory shall perish, and the great houses shall have an end,” says the Lord.”
Lesson 4: The ancient Israelites had allowed their purist of material abundance to replace their commitment to God. God will never allow for anything or anyone to take the place that belongs to Him alone.
