Study From the Book of Ephesians, 5
Today is the fifth part of the series, “Study from the Book of Ephesians.” We study chapter 4 and as usual, we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be applied in biblical counselling. Remind our readers that those biblical principles and lessons can be applied either as self help or in counselling others.
Chapter four main idea is the process of sanctification. It is a life-long process of growing. Our aim is to get to the fullness of Christ. This is of course never to be achieved until we arrive to heaven. But for now, is by putting off the old man and putting on the new man and in the middle we need to be renewed in the Spirit of our minds.
The structure of this chapter is as follows:
Principle 7, verse 4:17: “—till we come all to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.”
Lesson 7: The Christian life is the life of growth. Non of us has arrived, non of us has already become all that God means for us to become; every day we are to be conformed a little more to the image of Christ.
Principle 8,verse 4:24: “—put on the new man which was created according to God, in the true righteousness and holiness.”
Lesson 8: When Paul tells us to “put on” the new man, he means that we have to make a conscious , moment by moment choice to depend upon the Spirit power to transform us into the likeness of Christ.
