Study From the Book of Ephesians, 3
Today is the third part of the series, “Study from the Book of Ephesians,” as we study chapter 2 and as usual we pick up a couple of biblical principles and lessons that can be applied in biblical counselling. I remind our readers that these biblical principles and lessons can be applied either as self help or in counselling others.
In chapter two, the Apostle Paul starts his chapter to remind the believers that we have three enemies: the flesh, the world and Satan with his followers of unbelievers who try to lure and tempt the believers through the lust of the flesh, using the worldview to deceive and confuse them away from the truth of God’s Word. However we have three powerful resources : the Holy Spirit, the Word of God and the Lord Jesus Himself who intercedes for us in heaven.
In Chapter two, Paul comes across these topics:
Principle 3, verse 2:2: “... according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience....”
Lessons 3: Add to the above in the introduction, Satan also tries to prevent unbelievers from coming to faith in Jesus Christ. He is the only way for salvation. Yet he cannot match for the Holy Spirit.
Principle 4: verse 2:8,9: “..for by grace you have been saved through faith and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”
Lesson 4: We get salvation free (grace) by faith. However it is not free as it cost the Lord Jesus to die on the Cross and to pay a heavy price for us to enjoy. So it is a gift of God presented free in His Son and not in exchange for anything when we place our faith in Christ. God blesses us not because of our merit but because of His goodness. 12/5/2019
